A glorious day today on the second excursion in the Nine in '09 Project. Mary and I celebrated her 60th birthday and explored the Brooklyn neighborhood of Williamsburg. Williamsburg was once a major industrial neighborhood only one subway stop from Manhattan. But as manufacturing left the area its lofts and old factories attracted artists. Restaurants, hip stores and families followed. Despite some high rise buildings going up the neighborhood is still predominantly low rise with lots of light and just a block from the subway are quiet streets.We had brunch in one of the best breakfast places I've ever eaten, Egg, on N. 5th St. We then explored the shops of Bedford Avenue and visited the flea market on N. 6th St. I loved taking photos of some of the street art and walking blocks and blocks on a sunny spring day.

I'm here from Kelly's blog. Saw your comments about living in New York city, then see you are in your 50s and living to be positive. (Me, too!) And reading on, see you love to visit authors' homes. Recently went to Laura Ingalls Wilder's home in Mansfield, MO where the "Little House" books were written. So inspiring. Love your blog. Will be back.
