United States Olympic Team, 2020

I spent Sunday with at a fun gymnastics exhibition. I was the guest of friends whose daughter is an avid gymnast. What fun! I love watching the Olympic gymnasts, but have never seen gymnastics "live." The girls were great and I loved seeing their talent and energy.

Gymnastics wasn't option when I was growing up, though I don't think I would have been a very good gymnast if I had had the option. I took swimming lessons for years in elementary school and enjoyed it a lot and still love to swim. Anyone in Blogland an athlete in elementary or high school or did anyone become more athletic in later years? Anyone for the Senior Olympics? Inquiring minds want to know.

I tried out for volleyball in high school but in the middle of practices I got sick and had to bow out.
I'll take you on in the wheel chair competition! :)

These girls look like they are very determined and skilled.

I did well on long distance running when I was in high school! I'm afraid I've lost my endurance!

Have a very nice day.

What a great event to be invited!
I was sort of in everything, but dancing and basketball were my fav. However, when I got slammed on the court by an angry player and hurt my knee, that ended my time on the court and just about everything else!

I was always a clumsy, fat child. It wasn't til I was in my 50's I learned I was born with hip dysplasia that hampered my mobility.
I've since had several hip surgeries
and I'm just grateful to be walking, never mind gymnastics!

I am afraid that I was never much of an athlete. I was only good at archery and folk dancing in college. However, I have spent 9 years of going to gymnastic meets with our grandson, Johnny who is 14. You can imagine how excited we were when out of 1,000s who competed this past year, he was one of 14 to make the National level 9 team. He just got back from training at the Olympic center in Colorado and had a great time.
He may not make the team during the Brazilian Olympics.... but he is surely giving it his best shot.

I am glad you enjoyed watching your friend's daughter. It is really amazing what these young ones can do.

Have a great 4th weekend. Hugs, Lura

Those girls are beautiful - - - but I am partial to the color of their outfits. Regarding sports - - I don't want anything on a team where I could get hurt. In high school gym class, I would get clunked on the head when I had the ball in Basketball or Volleyball because of my short height. Someone else would go for the ball and their arms coming down would inadvertently hit me. So I was a statistician instead! Give me stuff like Elliptical machine etc.
